Communiqué of the General House of the Society of Saint Pius X
The General Chapter of the SSPX has elected two General Councillors to serve on the Council of the Superior General, Father Davide Pagliarani, in accordance with the common law of the Church. They are Bishop Bernard Fellay, former Superior General (1994-2018) and Father Franz Schmidberger, former Superior General (1982-1994) and currently Director of the Herz Jesu Seminary in Zaitzkofen (Germany). No escape from the slide. Fr Pfeiffer and the OLMC priests should seriously consider removing their "SSPX handcuffs". Its now time to call in Bishop Ambrose and shatter the illusion that there is no life without the SSPX or its bishops.

There are two points that need mention for this new creation within the SSPX statues.
1 - It is normal and understood within the SSPX to have the prior Superior General to act as an advisory role with the experience he gained to help navigate the new Superior General through his term. This was done when Fr. Schmidberger was elected giving ABL the advisory help to him. Done when Bishop Fellay was elected Fr. Schmidberger became an advisor to him. And the same for the new Superior General, Bishop Fellay is his advisor. The crisis warranted this advisory role and is very prudent to do so.
2 - However, what became important at this time for the SSPX to create this new “General Councillor” role can be understood regarding their advancement for reconciliation with modern rome. Here we see Bishop Fellay able to still effect change now under the radar for what he started...giving now an excuse for the new superior General to act neutral and conservative.
In other words, Bishop Fellay is ALREADY and advisor and Fr. Schmidberger is ALREADY an advisor too when called and needed. Why the OFFICIAL status as "General Councillors"? It allows these two to go to rome and make OFFICIAL change and diplomacy in the name of the WHOLE fraternity? Change comes in the dark for these people.
Fr. Girouard gave a good analysis drawing this out.

It would seem now we can expect the rush for a "practical agreement" or whatever they'll call it, to shift into High Gear.
I don't think there will be any "news" that will surprise me after this development. Fr. Girouard has his finger on the pulse of these facilitators.
It may appear that "Bishop Fellay is back," but it would be more accurate to say he never left. This was all planned before the Chapter convened.
The key question is, "What else has already been planned?"

It will be interesting to see if there is now a 'rush' but certainly the chess players are well-positioned on the chess board towards the facilitation of an agreement with modernist Rome.
