These are reviews for the new 2019 Liturgical Calendar from Angelus Press.
Christy, Dec 2018
I wish I had read the review already submitted for this calendar before I purchased, but it didn't occur to me I might have to. I also have been buying these calendars for years. I just received my 2019 and it is a sore disappointment. The pictures are lovely, but the calendar portion looks cheap and sloppily laid out. The font is ugly and large, so it takes up much of the space; the boxes are not centered on the page, the week appearing to spill off to the right; the Holy Days are not colored to draw the eye (a very helpful part of the calendar I've valued in years past); and there is no mention of the class of feast or color of vestment for the day.
Overall this calendar looks like the free calendars funeral homes put in the back of Novus Ordo churches. I cannot imagine why anyone would have made all these disastrous changes to such a lovely staple of any traditional Catholic home. This will also be my last year purchasing for myself and others if the quality is not restored. Please fix this, Angelus Press!
Disappointed Ella, Dec 2018
I have been purchasing these calendars for years (thanks to the recommendation of a priest friend) and have always been delighted in them for their lovely photos, great layout and the highlighting of the holy days of obligation. The photos are still lovely but the calendar dates (and spaces) are noticeably smaller and no longer emboldened. The special holy days are nondescript. This will, unfortunately, be the last year I purchase this calendar.
