The Catholic Church teaches that anyone who practices true devotion to Mary, with perseverance, will infallibly be saved. The scapular is a true devotion to Mary because it consists of homage, confidence and love. We pay Mary homage when we wear her Scapular as a mark of dedication to her. We show confidence when we believe in Her promises and in Her power to save us. We show that we love Her when we want to have Her for our Mother. Thus the scapular is by its very nature a Sign of Salvation.
True devotion to Mary becomes a perfect devotion when we imitate Her. Imitating Her in all Her virtues is to go directly and perfectly to Jesus, especially in the Holy Eucharist.
"The inner life of another that is known to God alone becomes to a much less degree open to us through friendship. It partially fills the desire of our incomplete, lonely hearts for completeness in another. Friendship brings out the best in a person through forgetfulness of self." - St. Thomas Aquinas
