For a repentant follower, after a lifetime of sin, speaking to God directly in a meditation is very scary. You are forgiven all your sins, but not from a good Catholic background how to start ? I took Mary Magdelene as my Patron Saint, should I look at any specific reading materials regarding her after the passion ? Should I study the prodigal son ? What reccomendations ? Possibly a subject of a day to day walk as a Catholic ?

Dear DARoberts,
May God bless you for your good desires and intentions! The best answer to your specific questions should really be directed to a good priest.
But one of the best pieces of advice I could ever give is to cling to your Rosary. Say as many a day as you can with attention and devotion. Our Lady Herself will guide you to Her Divine Son and thus to Heaven. Talk to Her as you would a dear mother.
And ask your Guardian Angel to guide you as well. He is there for that exact purpose. Place yourself under his care and he will enlighten you as to the devotions that will best help you. Our Angels never abandon us. They wait for us to turn to them for help!
God bless you and keep you, DARoberts
