Certainly, God has given you much, but you have not yet received the robe of immortality. Why request no more as though you were filled to satiety?
If God is good to you because He has given you these things, how much more blessed will you be when He gives Himself to you! Request the gift of God Himself.
- Commentary on Psalm 144, 2
Prayer. I call upon Thee, my God, my Mercy, my Creator. I had forgotten Thee, but Thou held me ever in Thy sight. Come, then, into my soul, which Thou have prepared for Thy own reception by inspiring in me a longing for Thy goodness.
"The inner life of another that is known to God alone becomes to a much less degree open to us through friendship. It partially fills the desire of our incomplete, lonely hearts for completeness in another. Friendship brings out the best in a person through forgetfulness of self." - St. Thomas Aquinas
