False Right Roberto de Mattei & Benedict XVI

After the death of John Paul II, Card. Joseph Ratzinger was elected and ”inaugurated” under the name Benedict XVI. For this series of articles entitled, Real Council & Virtual Council, Benedict is the last Conciliar Pope that I will analyze. The disastrous pontificate of Francis, which can be seen as a punishment from God, began just 4 days after the speech of Roberto de Mattei at Krakow.
False right Mattei helps Ratzinger to save Vatican II
Let me take a brief look at just some of the fruits of this ex-perito of the Second Vatican Council, Joseph Ratzinger. Although Ratzinger could not vote, as a young suit-and-tie priest-theologian, he participated at the Council as a perito, and was the disciple of a leading progressivist of the Council, Fr. Karl Rahner. So, like his predecessors, Pope Benedict had been present at the Council and actively involved with it. He would spend the next five decades implementing it.As reported in Informations Catholiques Internationales on May 15, 1969, Joseph Ratzinger was “previously suspect [of heresy] by the Holy Office.” Nevertheless, the seriousness of this suspicion did not prevent John XXIII from accepting him at the Council as a counselor-theologian of Card. Josef Frings or Paul VI from appointing Ratzinger as a member of the International Theological Commission.

Later, as a Cardinal, he headed the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith – CDF – during John Paul II’s reign and supplied theological support for JPII’s ecumenism and global antics. He is recognized for implementing - and even “saving” - the Catholic-Protestant Accord on the doctrine of justification at Augsburg October 31, 1999.As Pope Benedict XVI, he continued the annual inter-religious prayer meetings at Assisi. These meetings are, indeed, the “abomination of desolation.” No matter how grave they were or how this gravity has increased with their continuous repetitions, today they are considered passé in comparison to so many other horrors Catholics are witnessing. Ecumenism and dialogue with Schismatics, Protestants and all types of heretics plus dialogue with Jews, Mohammedans, Buddhists and pagans were common events under Ratzinger’s pontificate. Benedict never rejected any part of Vatican II, but rather made efforts to interpret the Council according to a “hermeneutics of continuity” and not as a true rupture with Church doctrine of the past as it actually was. ... Like his predecessor & his sucessor Benedict followed the same agenda to destroy the solemnity of the Papacy; the media did not oblige them to do it As Cardinal and Pope, Ratzinger fooled many within Traditionalist Catholic circles into thinking that he was, as Michael Davies put it, “a friend of Tradition.” Other traditionalist leaders also fell under Ratzinger’s influence and supported the ecumenical lines coming from the Vatican, expressed, for example, in Dominus Jesus. Benedict’s pontificate was marked by endless schemes to converge the New Church of Vatican II and the traditional Faith. He used contrivances and tricks such as the Motu Proprio, indult Masses and hybrid Masses, and he laid out the groundwork for the adhesion of SSPX leaders to the Conciliar Church. The breakdown of the sacrality and dignity of the office of the Papacy did not diminish throughout the term of Benedict. (e.g. here, here and here) During his pontificate, more and more women entered important positions of teaching and administration within the Catholic Church. In 2004, Card. Ratzinger, as head of the CDF, signed a document, duly approved by John Paul II, entitled, L etter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church on the Collaboration of Men and Women in the Church and in the World. That document was a way to prepare the Church for the ‘Year of the Woman, which the UN promoted in 2005. Sarah Butler was appointed to the International Theological Commission and Mary Ann Glendon was named president of one of the 10 pontifical academies. Bold denials of the existence of Limbo and even of the existence of Heaven as a physical place were made by Pope Ratzinger himself. Next, in the wave of Vatican II’s Ostpolitik, he betrayed the Chinese Underground Church, instructing the suffering Chinese Catholic Church in the catacombs to surface and unite with the Communist Patriotic Church. He also revoked all previously granted privileges and faculties that allowed the underground Catholic Bishops to ordain other Bishops and priests, thus dooming the future of the Underground Church.
Benedict encouraged womens' participation in the Mass & Church positions
I believe it is safe to say that most of the moral scandals that have rocked the Church since Vatican II have been, in some way, connected to Joseph Ratzinger. As Prefect of the CDF, he was responsible for innumerous cases of covering up for pedophile priests, to such a point that a Texas judge named him a defendant in one of these cases and summoned him to give a deposition in court. He only escaped the court appearance because, before the case was heard, he was elected Pope and acquired immunity as a head of State. As Pope he produced an earthquake in Catholic Morals when he affirmed that the use of prophylactics by a male prostitute is a first step toward morality. Ratzinger – who, with Mattei, tries to blame the media for the evil caused by the Council – was always close by some pedophile or homosexual scandal. His encyclical Caritas in Veritate is a clear effort to promote a Universal Republic, the United Nations, egalitarianism and self-managing Socialism.

On February 28, 2013, Benedict XVI announced his retirement from the papacy, and a bolt of lightning struck the Vatican dome. In the manner of a modern-day president of a republic or large corporation, he left his sacred office after eight years, inducing Catholics to envisage the Papacy more as a presidency than the sacred monarchy that it is. ... The affirmation of Benedict XVI duly endorsed by Roberto de Mattei, that the media created a “virtual Council” without any blame placed on the “real Council” and those who made and implemented it, is absurd. This effort of Mattei has no other aim than to save Vatican II. It corresponds well to the mission of the false right, which is to anesthetize and fool traditionalists and conservatives in order to shepherd them to serve and obey Progressivism.

Bad news for Resignationists and all those who believe that “Pope Emeritus” Benedict XVI is gravely at odds with his offbeat successor, Jorge Bergoglio. The Italian newspaper La Repubblica reports that in a Jan. 24, 2014 letter Joseph Ratzinger wrote to his former colleague and collaborator Hans Kung, he expressed his satisfaction to be united to [Pope] Francis not only by a “cordial friendship” but also — and this is clearly much more important — by a shared concurrence of points-of-view: “I am grateful to be joined to Pope Francis by a great agreement of views and a cordial friendship”, the retired Benedict wrote to [...] Hans Kung, who basically denies every Catholic dogma in the book, including that of the Most Holy Trinity, and who announced in 2013 that he is considering committing suicide as he is now advanced in years and suffers from Parkinson’s Disease and doesn’t really see the point of sticking around. (Suicide is a mortal sin against the Fifth Commandment, of course, one that sends the perpetrator directly to hell inasmuch as it precludes any possibility of repentance and contrition.) The article by La Repubblica, which consists of an interview with Küng, is only available in Italian, but you can access it here: Küng: “ Chiesa e fedeli troppo distanti ora Francesco deve cambiarla” ( La Repubblica, Feb. 10, 2014) Like Ratzinger, Kung too attended the Second Vatican Council as a theological “expert” (peritus) and was likewise effective in ensuring that the Modernist Nouvelle Theologie (New Theology) would successfully find its way into the official conciliar documents. The two German-speaking Modernists are united theologically in their rejection of the true Catholic Faith and traditional Catholic theology, and in their hatred for Scholasticism and the Neo-Thomism of which the great Anti-Modernist Fr. Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange, O.P, was the uncompromising champion. The illustrious Mgr. Joseph Clifford Fenton battled Kung directly in his writings. In 2012, a 1963 letter from Karl Rahner was unearthed in which the Modernist Rahner relates to his brother Hugo that Ratzinger was being denounced as a “heretic who denies hell” at the infamous Vatican II Council in progress at the time. There is a lot more that unites Ratzinger and Kung than what divides them, that’s for sure. In 2005, the newly-elected Benedict XVI invited his fellow-Modernist friend Kung over for a friendly chit-chat at the Vatican, at which the German Antipope reportedly offered his support for Kung’s interreligious Global Ethic Foundation (Weltethos) and engaged in “no polemics.” There is one more interesting quote from Benedict’s letter to Kung that is relevant to the point that he is supportive of and in agreement with most of Francis’ views: “Today I see it as my only and last duty to support his pontificate in prayer.”

During his stay in Sydney for the WYD-2008, Benedict XVI received a kind of "blessing" from one of the many Aborigine witch doctors he met. Even though we don't know for sure the date this picture was taken, it was probably on the day of the final Mass where he allowed tribal customs to be part of the sacred liturgy. The Australian Indians enjoyed such broad liberty that it almost changed the tone of the WYD. Perhaps tribalism is a new component that Pope Ratzinger wants to introduce in the WYDs as part of his growing ecological concerns. Let's wait and see. Anyway, it seems quite difficult to believe that a true Vicar of Christ should be "blessed" by a pagan witch doctor, whose gods, according to the Gospel, are devils - Omnia dii gentium sunt daemonia [All the gods of the Gentiles are devils] (Psalm 95: 5). |

A few words of Archbishop Lefebvre (taken from the Rome Cannot Be Trusted section of his quotes here on The Catacombs) that reflect that the Archbishop was well aware that then-Cardinal Ratzinger was trying very much to lead the Archbishop and the SSPX right into the Conciliar Church:
- “That is why, taking into account the strong will of the present Roman authorities to reduce Tradition to naught, to gather the world to the spirit of Vatican II and the spirit of Assisi, we have preferred to withdraw ourselves and to say that we could not continue. It was not possible. We would have evidently been under the authority of Cardinal Ratzinger, President of the Roman Commission, which would have directed us; we were putting ourselves into his hands, and consequently putting ourselves into the hands of those who wish to draw us into the spirit of the Council and the spirit of Assisi. This was simply not possible.” (Sermon June 30, 1988)
- “Upon reflection, it appears clear that the goal of these dialogues is to reabsorb us within the Conciliar Church, the only Church to which you make allusion during these meetings.” (Letter to Cardinal Ratzinger, May 24, 1988)
- The cardinal [Ratzinger] informed us that we would now have to allow one New Mass to be celebrated [weekly] at St. Nicolas du Chardonnet. He insisted on the one and only Church, that of Vatican II. (Statement by Archbishop Lefebvre on the “cessation of negotiations,” June 19, 1988)
Q&A – Interview with Archbishop Lefebvre, Fideliter No. 79, January-February 1991:
Fideliter: Since the coronations there is no more contact with Rome; however, Cardinal Oddi who phoned you and said, “You must work it out. Have a little forgiveness to the Pope and he is ready to welcome you” So why not try the ultimate approach and why do you think it impossible?
Archbishop Lefebvre: “It is absolutely impossible in the current climate of Rome which is becoming worse. We must not delude ourselves. Principles who now run the conciliar church are increasingly, openly, contrary to Catholic doctrine. Finally the Pope is more ecumenical than ever. It is absolutely inconceivable that we can agree to work with [such] a hierarchy.”
Fideliter: Do you think the situation has deteriorated further since you had – before the consecrations – engaged in conversations that led to the drafting of the Protocal of May 5, 1988?
Archbishop Lefebvre: “Oh yes! For example the fact that the profession of faith which is now [pushed] by Cardinal Ratzinger since the beginning of 1989. This is a very serious matter. Because it asks all those who joined or could do, to make a profession of faith in the documents of the Council and the post-conciliar reforms. For us it is impossible. For my part, I believe that only God can intervene as humanly we do not see opportunities to Rome to redress the current.”
“When they say they [Dom Gerard and the Fraternity of St. Peter] don’t have to give anything up, that’s false. They have given up the ability to oppose Rome. They cannot say anything anymore. They must remain silent given the favours that have been granted them. It is now impossible for them to expose the errors of the Conciliar Church. Softly, softly they adhere, even be it only by their Profession of Faith that is requested by Cardinal Ratzinger. I think Dom Gérard is about to publish a small book written by one of his monks on Religious Liberty and which will try to justify it. From the point of view of ideas, they begin to slide ever so slowly and end up by admitting the false ideas of the Council, because Rome has granted them some favours of Tradition. It’s a very dangerous situation” (Fideliter No. 79, January-February 1991)
- Cardinal Ratzinger is against infallibility. The pope is against infallibility by his philosophical formation. Understand me rightly!—We are not against the pope insofar as he represents all the values of the Apostolic See which are unchanging, of the See of Peter, but we are against the pope insofar as he is a modernist who does not believe in his own infallibility, who practices ecumenism. Obviously, we are against the Conciliar Church which is virtually schismatic, even if they deny it. In practice, it is a Church virtually excommunicated because it is a Modernist Church. We are the ones that are excommunicated while and because we wish to remain Catholic, we wish to stay with the Catholic Pope and with the Catholic Church—that is the difference.

- Fideliter: [...] Cardinal Ratzinger published an instruction with an Oath of Fidelity and a Profession of Faith preceding it. Can't we see here signs of a sort of improvement and a return to more traditional formulas?
Archbishop Lefebvre: I don't think it is a true return to Tradition. Just as in a fight when the troops are going a little too far ahead one holds them back, so they are slightly putting the brakes on the impulse of Vatican II because the supporters of the Council are going too far. Besides, these theologians are wrong to get upset. The bishops concerned—the supposedly conservative bishops—are wholly supportive of the Council and of the post-Conciliar reforms, of ecumenism and of the charismatic movement.

- Fideliter: Now what should we think of the attitude of Rome as characterized by Cardinals Ratzinger and Mayer, who, up till now, are showing a certain tolerance towards Le Barroux, towards the Fraternity of St. Vincent Ferrer, towards the Fraternity of St. Peter. Do you think they are sincere? Is it a double game that they will keep up until they have exhausted all other means of rallying other traditionalist groups to Rome and then, once the game is over, those that have been reconciled with Rome will be asked to submit to the Council? Or, should we credit them with taking a turn for the better?
Archbishop Lefebvre: There are plenty of signs showing us that what you are talking about is simply exceptional and temporary. They are not general rules, applying to all priests throughout the world. They are exceptional privileges being granted in precise cases. Thus, what is granted to the Abbey of Fontgombault or to the Sisters of Jouques, or to other monasteries—they do not say it—but it is according to the Indult. Now, the Indult is an exception. It can always be taken back. An indult confirms a general rule. The general rule in this case is the New Mass and the New Liturgy. Hence, it is an exception which is being made for these communities.
We have an example in London where the cardinal archbishop has inaugurated three Masses around the Society's church in the capital of Great Britian in order to try to take away our people. "I am trying it for six months," he said. If our faithful begin to leave our center, he will keep up the experiment. If, on the contrary, the faithful stay with us, he will suppress it. If these Masses are then suppressed, the faithful who have regained a taste for the traditional liturgy will no doubt come over to us.
It seems that Cardinal Lustiger in Paris is envisaging giving a church to the priests who left us, but he would require that New Masses also be celebrated at these churches. In our discussions in Rome with Cardinal Ratzinger, he told me when we were moving towards an agreement, that if authorization was given to use the old liturgy at St. Nicholas du Chardonnet in Paris, there would also have to be New Masses. That was perfectly clear and it clearly shows their state of mind. For them there is no question of abandoning the New Mass. On the contrary. That is obvious.
That is why what can look like a concession is in reality merely a maneuver to separate us from the largest number of faithful possible. This is the perspective in which they seem to be always giving a little more and even going very far. We must absolutely convince our faithful that it is no more than a maneuver, that it is dangerous to put oneself into the hands of Conciliar bishops and Modernist Rome. It is the greatest danger threatening our people. If we have struggled for twenty years to avoid the Conciliar errors, it was not in order, now, to put ourselves in the hands of those professing these errors.

- Fideliter: What do you think of the instruction of Cardinal Ratzinger setting up the Oath of Fidelity which includes a Profession of Faith?
Archbishop Lefebvre: Firstly, there is the Credo which poses no problems. The Credo has remained intact. And, so the first and second sections raise no difficulties either. They are well-known things from a theological point of view. It is the third section which is very bad. What it means in practice is lining up on what the bishops of the world today think. In the preamble, besides, it is clearly indicated that this third section has been added because of the spirit of the Council. It refers to the Council and the so-called Magisterium of today, which, of course, is the Magisterium of the followers of the Council. To get rid of the error, they should have added, "...insofar as this Magisterium is in full conformity with Tradition."
As it stands this formula is dangerous. It demonstrates clearly the spirit of these people with whom it is impossible to come to an agreement. It is absolutely ridiculous and false, as certain people have done, to present this Oath of Fidelity as a renewal of the Anti-Modernist Oath suppressed in the wake of the Council. All the poison in this third section which seems to have been made expressly in order to oblige those who have rallied to Rome to sign this profession of Faith and to state their full agreement with the bishops. It is as if in the times of Arianism one had said, "Now you are in agreement with everything that all the Arian bishops think."
No, I am not exaggerating. It is clearly expressed in the introduction. It is sheer trickery. [...] And so, I think now they are regaining lost ground. They are no doubt going to have these texts signed by the seminarians of the Fraternity of St. Peter before their ordination and by the priests of the Fraternity, who will then find themselves in the obligation of making an official act of joining the Conciliar Church.
Differently from in the Protocol, in these new texts there is a submission to the Council and all the Conciliar bishops. That is their spirit and no one will change them.

Paul VI was the one who named Pope Benedict a cardinal, which allowed to participate in choosing a pope in two conclaves held in 1978.
The late pontiff, born Giovanni Battista Montini, was the son of a middle class lawyer, who was also a politician and journalist.
He was ordained a priest aged 22 and served as pope from 1963 to 1978, and ended the Second Vatican Council after his predecessor, pope John XXIII, had initiated it one year earlier.
He was the last pope to be crowned after he dissolved many of the Church's old traditions.
Paul VI also concluded the Second Vatican Council in 1965, the largest revision of the Church's Liturgy and the first major revision since the Council of Trent, held 400 years earlier.
He published the controversial encyclical “Humanae Vitae” in 1968 which reaffirmed the Church's stance against contraception, as well as firm affirmation of the merits of priestly celibacy.
According to Vatican journalist Tornielli, the congregation will investigate an alleged miraculous healing of a then unborn child took place 16 years ago in California.
Doctors told the pregnant mother to abort after finding a serious problem in the fetus, which normally results in brain damage.
But she entrusted her pregnancy to Paul VI and the baby, now around 15 years old, was born without problems.
The congregation may also investigate an alleged miracle after a nun with a tumor was suddenly cured.
The Church has three main steps in making a deceased person a saint, with the first providing proof that the person had “heroic virtue.”
This means the person has practiced outstanding faith, hope and charity as well as extraordinary virtuous actions with readiness over a period of time. The person who the Church declares to have had heroic virtue is given the title “Venerable,” and is also called a “Servant of God.”
The second step is “beatification,” which means the Church recognizes the person is in heaven after a miracle is proven titling them “Blessed.”
And the final step is “canonization,” where the Pope himself officially proclaims the person a saint.

The 93-year-old, whose original name is Joseph Ratzinger, claims in "Benedict XVI - A Life" that he has fallen victim to a "malignant distortion of reality" in reactions to his interventions in theological debates. " The spectacle of reactions coming from German theology is so misguided and ill-willed that I would prefer not to speak of it," he says. The former pope -- who dramatically resigned in 2013 -- was especially criticised for a 2018 text that was seen as critical of the Jewish faith. "I would rather not analyse the actual reasons why people want to silence my voice," Benedict says.
