The Crucifix of La Salette
The Crucifix of La Salette is a meditation on reconciliation with God. Mary wore this crucifix about Her neck during the apparition of 1846 when She cried for the people of France. They were not going to church on Sunday, ignoring Lent and cursing at the slightest things. The body of Christ on the cross shone brilliantly. The hammer on His left was as the one used to drive the nails in and stands for sin, which really caused the death of Jesus. The pliers on His right were used to pull the nails out and stand for penance or reparation. It is reputed that replicas of this crucifix will illuminate during the Three Days of Darkness.
