Luther ridiculed ... by his family and himself!
The Life and Times of Martin Luther: What should we think of the leaders of the reform and their doctrines? This question is simple since the answer is given to us by the Protestant authors and the leaders of the reform themselves:
"The life of Luther, after his apostasy, was none other than that of a libertine entirely occupied with the pleasures of the table and with brutal enjoyments; so much so that it was passed in proverb, when one wanted to allow some debauchery, to say: " Today we will live to the Luther."

"Truly Luther is very vicious; Would God have taken care to further repress his incontinence! Would to God that he had thought more of recognizing his vices! "

"When I read a book by Luther, I seem to see a filthy hog groaning, sniffing here and there the flowers of a beautiful garden; it is with the same impurity, the same ignorance of theology, the same impropriety, that Luther speaks of GOD and holy things. "

Melanchton's mother, one of Luther's most famous disciples, had been trained by his son, and had followed him in the so-called Lutheran reform. On the verge of death, she summoned the reformer, and at this supreme moment she solemnly asked him: "My son " said she , "it is by your counsel that I have abandoned the Catholic Church for embrace the new religion. I am going to appear before God, and I adjure you, by the living God, to tell me, without hiding anything, in what faith I must die." Melanchton lowered his head and kept a moment's silence; the love of the son struggled in his heart against the pride of the sectarian. "Mother," he replied finally, "Protestant doctrine is easier, Catholic doctrine is safer!"

'Luther, after having supperfully supped, had gone to bed in a happy mood. But then waking up, he was terrified, and hanged himself' by means of a noose.' Hence the symptoms noted by the doctors. the preachers who had come running could only ascertain the fact. They made all the relatives swear not to divulge it, 'for the honor of the Gospel'.

Luther on himself:How many times has my conscience been alarmed! How many times have I not said to myself, "Do you pretend to be the only one of all men who is wise? Do you pretend that all the others have been mistaken for so many years? " (Tom II, f 9, b).
"After having conquered all the other considerations, I could not overcome with much difficulty that which says that we must listen to the Church." (Tom II, f.5).
"I am not bold enough," said he , "to dare to assure that it is in the name of God that I have begun this whole affair; I would not want to support God's judgment on that." (Tom I, f 564, b.)
"The library of the Dominican Convent of Santa Maria del Minerva at Rome has, among many precious manuscripts, a curious letter from Luther addressed to his old mother. The poor woman, who did not want to accuse her son and who feared to be separated from him for eternity, having asked her, "if she had to change her religion and adopt her new opinions , " the proud Saxon did not consent to drag away in her shipwreck the one who loved her so much, and he replied: "No; Stay Catholic; for I do not want to deceive or betray my mother. "I am here from morning to evening unoccupied and drunk." Or: "You ask me why I drink so abundantly, why do I speak so cheerfully and why do I feast so frequently? It is to make room for the devil who had begun tormenting me." Or: "It's drinking, playing, laughing, in this state, even stronger and even commit any sin of defiance and contempt for Satan to try to chase the suggested thoughts by the devil with other ideas, such as thinking about a pretty girl, greed or drunkenness, or getting into a lot of anger.
