Being that Good Friday is this week I thought that I would share the prayer and story of Christ's most forgotten Wound.
Saint Padre Pio also suffered with this Wound.
The prayer can be found online, which is where I got it. It is the same as the one I have, so I know it is good.
The rest of the information comes from the French card I have. It was also my Grandmother's devotion.
Revelation made to St. Bernard, of the unknown wound of the Sacred Shoulder of Our Lord Jesus Christ, opened by the weight of the Cross.
St. Bernard, Abbot of Chiaravalle, asks Our Lord in prayer what was the greatest pain suffered in His body during His Passion. Our Lord answered him: "I carried the Cross, a deep wound of three fingers and three bones found on the shoulder. This wound, which was not known to men, caused Me more pain and sorrow than all the others. But reveal it to the Christian faithful and know that some grace which will be asked of Me by virtue of this wound will be granted to them. To all those who out of love for it will honor Me daily with 3 Our Fathers, Hail Marys, and Glory be's, I will pardon venial sings I will no longer remember the mortals, they will not die an unexpected death, at the hour of their death they will be visited by the Blessed Virgin and they will still obtain grace and mercy."
Pope Eugene III, at the request of St. Bernard, granted indulgences to those who spread this prayer and always carry it with them; to those who recite 5 Our Fathers, Hail Marys and Glory be's and receive the Holy Sacraments praying for the Supreme Pontiff.
PRAYER TO THE SHOULDER WOUND OF CHRIST
O Loving Jesus, meek Lamb of God, I miserable sinner, salute and worship the most Sacred Wound of Thy Shoulder on which Thou didst bear Thy heavy Cross, which so tore Thy flesh and laid bare Thy Bones as to inflict on Thee an anguish greater than any other wound of Thy Most Blessed Body.
I adore Thee, O Jesus most sorrowful; I praise and glorify Thee, and give Thee thanks for this most sacred and painful Wound, beseeching Thee by that exceeding pain, and by the crushing burden of Thy heavy Cross to be merciful to me, a sinner, to forgive me all my mortal and venial sins, and to lead me on towards Heaven along the Way of Thy Cross. Amen
