What we have here today is a new breed of priests and a new breed of conservatives that they really want to stay alive until things get better. They have some false theology in their heads, because they're good men, they're not cowards. They're good men but they have some false theology in their heads. What's the problem? They believe that the principle virtue is the one taught to them by the masons and by the Jews of the Alta Vendita in the 1820's. But they don't know that it came from the Jews and the masons. It's the theology by which the masons said we will destroy the Catholic Church by making obedience the highest of the virtues. We will raise obedience to the top of the virtues so that you cannot be good in any way without obedience.
This is an important teaching of modernism and it's easily in our blood. Why is that?
It's quite simple to understand. Modernism is the belief, the heresy, that tells us that truth changes. There is only one truth but it changes, it evolves. Since truth changes, what's the natural conclusion of that?
If I follow the instruction of the teacher of the truth of a hundred yrs. ago it may not work today because the truth has changed. Therefore if I follow the authority of the past it is dangerous, and if I follow the authority of the past it's not sufficient. If the authority of the past tells me to say Mass in Latin, the authority of the past tells me to teach the divine faith, and so on, I might be missing something because there has been a change and a development of truth. Therefore the only way in which I can really be perfectly connected to the truth is by accepting the authority of today.
This theology is deep in the heads of the modern priests. They know that modernism is bad. They know that it's a heresy. They know they don't want to believe in it. But they have deep in their head: I can't be good and I can't know the truth if I don't have a boss. If I don't have an authority over me telling me what's good and what's true. I must have an authority over me because the authorities know the latest developments of science. They know the latest developments of evolution, they know the latest teachings and I've got to update myself.
In the modern SSPX seminary in Virginia they're starting to change their teaching. They're noting that the seminarians and their noting in the Society in general you must be a little bit attentive to the discoveries and developments of modern psychology and psychiatry because they've discovered many things that we did not know before. St. Thomas was pretty smart, St. Augustine was pretty smart- for their day. But they didn't understand the inner workings of the human mind. So we can learn a lot from modern psychology and modern psychiatry.
Bishop Sheen described it much better when he simply said, The leading cause of bad health is sin. If you want ulcers? Have an anger problem. You want liver problems? Try being a drunk. For all other diseases, try impurity. You will discover that every sin has a health problem attached to it. And if you want to overcome sin, overcome health problems? Overcome sin. That is the correct theological answer. How did health problems enter the world? Because Adam decided to commit a sin. It is by sin that health problems entered the world. Who know that? The priests of God. Where did we learn that? From the infallible teachings of our holy Church. It is recorded in sacred scripture. It is infallibly true that there's where health problems come from. Therefore, who understands sin, who understands justice, understands much better health.
....
The duty of the priest is to preach the word of God and to preach against the errors and heresies of his place and his time. Not the errors and heresies that are of great interest to historians, the errors and heresies of Spain 1192 A.D. and of France in 127 A.D. It's really interesting but what is necessary is to combat the errors and heresies of our people and our time. To take away the disease that they have.
The disease that our people have in our time is the disease of modernism. The disease of our people within Catholic tradition is the disease of the infection of modernism by which their faith is being ripped away from them. It's the duty of the priests to stand up as a captain in the army of God and imitate our ancestors and condemn these errors and heresies and not worry about the authorities.
What did one of the greatest of the apostles of the 20th century say, Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, We hold of no value, no use whatsoever, any excommunications or condemnations that will come against us after these consecrations of this June 30, 1988. We hold them of no value. Why? What is the value? The priesthood that saves souls.
What is the value? The holy, Roman Catholic Faith.
What must be combated? Satan, his errors and heresies. How is it combated? By Catholic priests going into the world teaching the holy Roman Catholic Faith and bringing souls to Christ.
So Rome doesn't approve? Let Rome solve it's own problems.
So the bishop doesn't approve? Let the bishop answer before God.
Our duty is to fulfill our duty as priests in the army of God.
Now when these new priests who come to tradition they're not acting the same as the old ones did. I would say up until the 1990's the old priests coming back to tradition said, I don't like the new Mass any more. I know it's bad. Vatican II is bad, I want to learn tradition. Then I want to go out and help souls. I want to build the kingdom of Christ. I want to spread the Gospel. I want to fulfill my duty as a priest of God.
But the new priests they just want to survive. That's what they teach now in the army, just survive. The most important thing you're supposed to do is survive. If that's the most important thing, live in a bubble, don't join the army!
