Today we publish a fourth document of HE Mons. Carlo Maria Viganò with date of Sunday January 13, feast of the Baptism of the Lord and St. Hilary of Poitiers, intrepid French bishop who, together with St. Athanasius, kept the faith alive during the Arian heresy of the IV century. The document is an open letter to the Card. McCarrick to urge him to repentance.

Dear Archbishop McCarrick,
As reported by the news of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the accusations against you for crimes against minors and for abuses against seminarians will be examined and judged shortly by administrative procedure.
Whatever the decision adopted by the supreme authority of the Church, what really matters, and that has hurt those who value it and pray for you, is the fact that during these months you have not given any sign of repentance. I am among those who pray for his conversion, so that you may repent and ask forgiveness from the victims and the Church.
Time is running out, but you can still confess and repent of your sins, crimes and sacrileges, and do it publicly, since they have been made public. His eternal salvation is at risk.
But another thing of extreme importance is also at stake. Paradoxically, you have at your disposal an immense gift of great hope on the part of Our Lord Jesus Christ; he is in a condition in which he can do great good to the Church. In fact, you are in a condition in which you can do for the Church something more important than all the good works that you do has done throughout his life. A public repentance on their part would obtain an extraordinary measure of healing to a seriously wounded and suffering Church. Are you willing to offer this gift to the Church? Jesus Christ died for all of us when we were still sinners (Rom 5,8). He only asks us to respond with repentance and doing the good that we are given to do. The good you are able to do now is to offer the Church your sincere and public repentance. Will he give this gift to the Church?
I implore you to publicly repent of your sins, so that the Church may rejoice and you may appear before the court of Our Lord purified by His blood. I beg you, do not make it in vain for you His sacrifice on the Cross. Christ, Our Good Lord, continues to love him. Put all your trust in your Sacred Heart. And pray to Mary, as I and many others are doing, asking her to intercede for the salvation of her soul.
"Maria Mater Gratiae, Mater Misericordiae, You give us hoste protects et mortis hora suscipe"
Mary, Mother of Grace, Mother of Mercy, protect us from enemies and support us at the hour of death .
Your brother in Christ,
+ Carlo Maria Viganò
