Epistle: St. John's Apocalypse Chapter 14
Gospel: St. Matthew Chapter 2
Gospel: St. Matthew Chapter 2
In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost. Amen.
All these children in Bethlehem were slain by the sword. They did this in Scotland, the Protestants, they went into towns and took the babies and threw them the air and cut them with their swords. They did that to massacre the Catholic people. Herod did this out of hatred of Our Lord Jesus Christ and he slew all the children who were two years old and younger, boys. Because of Herod’s jealousy, because of his love of his power, because of his godlessness and his love of darkness. When men love darkness, that is, when their hearts love sin, any sin, venial sin, imperfection, mortal sin, it's sin. Sin offends God and any sin rises up against God and offends Him. A good idea of sin is, what if you're walking down the street someone walked up to you smacked you, spit in your face, threw mud in your eyes, would that offend you? Of course it would, of course it would. But that's what we do to God when we sin, we break His Commandments we offend God, we crucify Him, we nail Him to the cross.
Those who love sin, those who love darkness, they begin to harden, they become calloused and they begin to love the darkness more than the light and they turn to hate the light. That's why we must never let the devil chain us by habits of sin, never let them chain you by habits of sin. Whether it be bad language, cussing, blasphemy, impurities, lying, disobedience. Try always to fight the sins that we fall into the most because there's a great danger that the soul becomes hardened and we begin to hate the light which is Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Herod's evil and wickedness led to this whole city and all the regions around it, imagine the scene as Jeremiah foretold it, all these mothers and fathers crying over their massacred children dripping with blood in the streets, holding them, everywhere. In those days, they had many, many children, they weren't perverted in the mind like our last 200 years of modern history. They loved the children, they took all the children they received from heaven and especially the women of the Jews, it was a blessing to receive as many children as God sent. So, there was a lot of children slaughtered and there was a lot of crying and lamentation and mourning and howling and screaming from these poor mothers.
Our Lord would have been among them, but the angel told St. Joseph take the Child and Mary, notice he speaks to the father, to the head of the house, take the child and Mary into Egypt. You know how many miles that was? Was it like five blocks down the street? Was it ten blocks down the street? You know far that was? It was at least 500 miles, at least 500 miles. That's at least probably two weeks, three weeks of walking and that's through the desert, hot in the sun, cold at night because well, it doesn't say what season this happened in but the desert is no pleasant place to travel. There's no McDonald's, there's no restaurants, no restroom centers, no bathrooms, no showers and this is what the Virgin Mary, another lesson for wives, be submissive to your husbands. ‘Honey, we gotta go, the angel said we must go to Egypt.’ Now most ladies would have a few sentences of ‘what's going on here?’, ‘let me let me stake my claim of my rights.’ Our Lady said ‘yes’. She just didn't argue, She didn't ask questions, She knew it was from God, She knew it was the angel. She didn't ask Joseph, St. Joseph, if he drank a little too much. No, She obeyed immediately which shows Her good spirit, it shows the honesty between the two. Another lesson for married couples to be always open between each other, never let a wall go up between you and for future married couples here too. That's a big rule in marriage, never let a wall of silence be built up between you, be quick to forgive. That openness comes with souls that are open with God more easy, if you pray easy, if you speak to God easy.
So, they fled to Egypt and you could go to Egypt, I have met a few Egyptians, never been there and I've seen a map. Father Ringrose in his Chapel, in the basement, he has a big map of the shrines of the places where the Holy Family stayed because they didn’t stay in one place. In some of these houses or hotels they've been turned into shrines and there's the fireplace you can still see, the pokers that St. Joseph used to start the fire, you can still see remnants. They treat these places like shrines, holy places where the Holy Family went, lived and traveled on. Another thing is when Christ well, He was a baby, He was carried in the arms of Mary or St. Joseph and they entered into the cities of Egypt, the cities often at the city gates they would have statues of the gods of Egypt, the false gods, who are Devils. They passed through the city gates, these huge statues would crumble to dust and no one could explain what's going on here. But St. Joseph and Our Lady knew, they were carrying the God of armies, the God who crushes the false gods and has a hatred for false gods because the false gods are Devils.
This was two years living this way. Did St. Joseph know how to speak hieroglyphics? Imagine your dad having to get a job in a country he doesn't know the language, he’s suddenly set there, he doesn't know the language. How is he going to get anywhere and provide anything? St. Joseph had to provide in that circumstance as well and God is the one who arranged this. But who's the cause of all this? Who's the cause of all, as Our Lord would say, division? “For those who love truth”, says Archbishop Lefebvre, “there's going to come division.” Because as man goes more corrupt, he turns more from the light and we're living in one of the most corrupt ages in the human race. If Pius XII could say in the 1940s and 50s, man has fallen worse than the days of Noah in the Ark, what are we? I mean, 1940s and 50s? St. Theresa, you ever hear of her? St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, that's her statue behind me. St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, her sister Celine, they were in the convent together, and Pauline, and they all became great saints, they're not all canonized but I'm sure they're all in heaven. But Celine outlived her sister St. Theresa, she (St. Theresa) died at twenty-four in the order of sanctity and she saw Our Lord before she died and she said, “My God I love You.” That was her last words, “My God I love You.” Celine outlived her and she lived all the way into the 1950s.
During World War II, Celine and all the nuns had to flee, they had to be sent to a huge basement area under the city where tons of people were gathering because they feared that the city would be bombed, Lisieux, France, because the Germans at the time we're moving in. This was the first time since the early 1900's she ever left the convent, Celine and all the nuns. Now when they entered the convent it was early 1900s so the dresses of the women were ankle-length or at least mid-calf, they were modestly dressed, the men were decently dressed and the behavior of the children was respectful and a little more obedient, a little more disciplined. That was when she entered the convent. She says, when we came out of the convent she was horrified to see the fashions and we're talking the 1940s! The 1940s! She was horrified, the fashions, the dresses were higher, the sleeves were higher, there was a looseness in behavior and tightness in clothing that she was shocked. This is 1940s, 1940s. So, if she lived today, she'd probably have a heart attack and just die because the fashions are so wrong, so demeaning and so degrading to our girls, it is a shame to the men to let this happen to our girls. It's the men's fault, it's always the men’s and the dad’s and the police force and especially at the end of every finger pointing is the priest. It's the priests’ and the bishops’ faults because they did not preach out against these things the way they should have but there was one good Cardinal. Cardinal Siri in Italy in 1964, and Bishop Williamson once published his letter, it was a great letter to the Italians, especially the Italian women, and he told them stay in your dresses, don't follow these new fashions because they will degrade you and turn the woman from a reflection of the Blessed Virgin Mary to a rug to be stepped on and thrown out.
The innocence of these children in Bethlehem they were killed but the devil's not stopping, he wants to rob us of all our innocence, he wants to rob you of all innocence, of all purity, of all chastity and these are the fruits of the Holy Ghost. We're living in an age where Jacinta of Fatima said, fashions will be introduced that will offend Our Lord very much and obviously, take many souls to hell. The Virgin Mary in Ecuador, in Quito, She foretold, Mother Mariana saw the fashions of our day, she couldn't believe it and she said the Virgin Mary told her that chastity purity and virginity will hardly ever even be found in these days, hardly, hardly. Now you got twelve-year-old girls who are trying to dress like they're twenty-year-olds and dress impure and their heads are full of it. Why? Because they watch TV, they listen to the rock and roll music, they watch all the commercials, they look at all of the advertisements and they're all shorter and shorter and tighter and tighter (talking about their dress). These poor girls think it's great and the fathers should be spanked publicly for allowing this and the leaders of the city and the leaders of the country and the priests as well, for allowing this and allowing the girls to be smeared on Billboards or advertise products in a most shameful and disgraceful way.
Now you girls, this is not a ‘pick on the girls’ day but your innocence is sacred and precious in God's eyes and you must love the purity, you must imitate Saint Maria Goretti. Remember, she was a beautiful Italian little girl, she was only twelve but the Italian girls mature earlier so she looked like she was probably fifteen or sixteen. Alexandro, her neighbor, he wanted to sin with her and unlike the modern idiot girls who would say, ‘yeah, let's go, no problem’, she knew she was a child of God, she knew this was a sin, it would take her to hell. She said to Alexandro, ‘you will go to hell for this Alexandro’ and he attacked her, he got so mad, he was blinded by lust and one of the daughters of lust is anger. Ted Bundy, who was executed for murdering, I think over seventeen girls, and chopping them up. He said it all began with looking at dirty pictures, looking at pornography. He didn't even live in the cell phone age where it's so available, it’s everywhere and it pops up even by accident and on billboards everywhere. Alexandro blinded by lust, he stabbed her fourteen times and he describes in the interrogations for her canonization, he describes that as he was attacking her, she was pushing down her dress, that shows you her sense of modesty that she had because the soul is what fills the body and the soul must be pure and love the state of grace.
Alexandro, he stabbed her fourteen times and then the poor girl, she went through her passion. She was so thirsty because she bled so much, but she couldn't drink anything. Why? Because the doctor said she had holes, even puncture near her lungs and if she drank, they had to treat her with aesthetic and clean out her wounds. Fourteen stab wounds, they had to clean them out so no infection, to try to save her and she had no pain killer. She's dying of thirst and she's going through this excruciating pain, through the whole, I forget how many hours of surgery was and she suffered her passion. She died saying, ‘I forgive Alexandro, I forgive him’ and believe it or not, Alexandro would go to prison for thirty years, she would appear to him later and give him fourteen lilies of pardon, of forgiveness and he would repent, he would make a good confession, he changed his life. He was released from prison and he became a brother, a lay brother, and he lived to see the canonization of Saint Maria Goretti, sitting next to her mother Assunta.
These days the fashions, what can we say? What can we tell you? As a priest we have to remind you, we have to remind you what the church has said about the fashion because our girls are forgetting and this is one of the signs of the first collapsing of the SSPX. Once you slide on doctrine, once you accept Vatican II in the slightest way, you're finished and the proof is the fashions that are coming out. In France, eighty percent of the girls and ladies wear pants to Mass and no veils. Then in the United States, thanks to Bishop Williamson who used to print these things and warn the girls, we had some decent modest fashions for many years but now Bishop Williamson is out of the picture and the priests are no longer preaching this anymore. You need to hear it and you need to spread it. Pius XI gave five codes of dress for the ladies. Here they are:
The dress must be below the knee while sitting down, in other words half-calf and a lot of the SSPX chapels, the dresses are up to the knee and going higher now. It’s got to stop, it's got to stop, at least with good families who want to save their souls.
Second thing, no V-neck below two fingers below the neck.
Third, no see-through material and no tight material and it should be below the elbows (sleeves).
Oh Father, that's Pius XI, that's 1930s, that's not fashionable anymore. You know what? God's not going to ask you when you die ‘what's the fashion when you lived?’, no way. Because women are always women, women are always the same, women are always attractive and they have a duty to dress according to the dignity that God gave them. What can you say when you poor girls, you know, you're bombarded like crazy by the media to dress like prostitutes, like loose girls and act like it? In modesty reserve purity, chastity it’s completely mocked and out of the picture. What can you say? What can you say? That you girls at least, at least, be a shining light in this darkness, be at least lovers of Christ the King and lovers of His chastity and I say also, that goes for a married woman. There's a chastity for married women as well and men. Which means you don't desire or think of another woman (or man) than your husband or wife, that's the marital chastity.
Satan wants to rob us all of innocence. Innocence of the modesty, innocence of our soul and that's why you got to beware also of rock and roll music. Rock and roll, hip-hop, grunge, techno, rap. Rap they misspelled it; they forgot a ‘c’. Let's see what else, the whole gambit, the whole genius of rock and roll, basically all music pretty much since the 1950s. I'm not condemning all music since the 50s but all music that's contemporary and funded by the Judeo Masons, that's the bad music. You know it, you know it when you hear it. There's decent music that has rhythm and that is marching music or the old Irish music, folk music of Scotland, folk music of Ukraine, folk music of Mexico these are all Catholic bass music and it’s joyful. It's a very different spirit from the rock and roll music which is debasing, which is sensual and even the rock musicians themselves say this music is all about fornication, everything from the neck down. What does God say about fornication and adultery? They will not enter the kingdom of heaven if they die unrepentant. A music that you hear it everywhere now, gas stations, stores, you can't go anywhere and the devil knows the power of this music and you know the Devils are fallen angels and angels write and sing the music of heaven, which far surpasses the most beautiful music of Earth. St. Francis of Assisi heard one angel strike an instrument, once, he was put in ecstasy for three days by the beauty of the music, St. Francis Assisi.
Rock and roll music is poison, you got to at least see it that is poisoned, you might be attracted to it, you might appreciate it, you might like some songs but know that it's poison. You've got to say ‘no’ to it, even if you like it, you've got to close the door and fill your mind and your musical needs with good music. It's very important and the devil knows the power of the bad music and one of them rock musicians says, ‘once we get this music in them, they belong to us’. We're all children of the revolution, every one of us, it's all we hear everywhere, it's in our bones but we got to realize to save our soul this is one factor we've got to fight, we gotta fight it.
They've even done, pardon me for the length but this is important, they have done even a test with mice, they played for mice in Denver, in the 1970s it was a whole test on music, and they tested mice and they played classical music, mainly Mozart, and the mice made their way through the maze, no problem and they made it in good time. Then they blared loud rock and roll music on the mice and the mice, it took them a lot longer to go through the maze, they got confused. Not only did they get confused and lost, they started to turn on each other and eat each other, that's a fact, it's a fact. Then they did the test with plants and plants started to grow away from the speakers with rock and roll music and with the devotional music, they called it, probably Gregorian chant, the plants grew more and flourished more. I've talked to farmers who play music, some of them, for their cows and when they play classical music they produce more milk. Music has an effect on the soul and it is an effect on the city. In a Catholic society rock and roll music would be banned, Plato, a pagan, even said if you change the music, the city walls will come crumbling down. This is what we got to fight and you children, you got to save your soul and good luck and we got to too. It is a fight to the death, it is not a struggle, it's a war and it's a fight to the day we die. The devil wants to rob you of innocence. We’re speaking about fashions, speaking about the rock and roll music, and we could go on and on, the list goes long.
We’ll end on one more and that's video games. Oh, Father your extreme, video games are fun, we like them. Alright, they're not all evil and they're not all condemnable. I would say it is far better to limit all these gadgets from all the childhood, let the children run around and throw snow balls at each other and play basketball and get bruised, build, get muddy, play football in the mud, ice hockey, and whatever else that's healthy for youngsters, children and adolescents. Better to eliminate all these things but if parents choose to have them, then you've got to keep a moderation on it, you got to keep a leash on it because even the secular atheists realize the destructive effect video games has on the minds of the children. It's not healthy and it turns the men to be effeminate and I'll tell you why, because it's constant pleasure, constant ongoing pleasure and that's not healthy for boys and men. Boys and men need times of sacrifice, self-giving, hardship, that's what forms them into men. But this constant sucking the bottle of pleasure and entertainment is destroying our people, it's destroying our boys and our men, well girls are less caught up into that stuff, but boys get more stuck into the video games, not exclusively but it is a danger, you've got to be aware of it.
There's just three points, practical points, but it does have a bearing on whether we go to heaven or hell and I'll tell you what the hours that people waste on just surfing the web or playing video games or just twiddling away time. When they're dying, says St. Alphonsus, they're going to beg God ‘oh just give me five more minutes, give me another hour’ and God will say ‘your time is finished. You had your hours; you had your lifetime. What did you do with the time I gave you?’, ‘Well, I did this and that’, ‘but you didn't take care of your soul, you didn't seek My union with Me’. Of course, God Is All Merciful, He will always show mercy but there are times when God is just and He just closes the door. Remember in the gospel that says the virgins came pounding ‘let us in, let us in’, the voice from inside the gates of heaven said ‘sorry I don't know you’, ‘you didn't know Me during your life, I won't know you at death.’
That's why while we have our lifetime, especially you youngsters, you got the prime of your lives, this is the most exciting time, one of the most exciting times, of your whole life. Your youth, your vigor, your joyfulness, your gifts that God gave all of you, use them for His glory and strive to be Saints, that's why we're here on earth, we're meant to be saints. Christ said what, be perfect as the lowest guardian angel, is that what He said? Be perfect as one of the good prophets, is that what He said? No, Christ said be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect. Which means, that's impossible, who of us can become like God, impossible, why would He say that to us? He knows that we can never attain such perfection but we must keep striving for it, that's what He means. Keep striving to be saints, if you slip and fall, you're going to fall in a mortal sin because the temptations are heavy, we all know that, alright make an act of contrition, get back up and keep fighting. Get to confession when you can, keep fighting. Keep fighting that's the point, keep fighting even if you seem to go nowhere, keep fighting. God is good He will give you the grace of victory, if your hearts are good, He will always fill it and that's why we got to be men of prayer, men and women of prayer.
Dear girls, young girls and I am filming this or recording this, I used to not record sermons but it is helping many souls and many souls who don't have access to mass, access to hearing traditional sermons, so for the sake of the girls that listening as well and the young ladies, love the chastity and if you don't love chastity and you're tempted by lust, pray for it. This goes with the boys too and the men and married men also, pray for chastity, pray for purity and we gotta fight for it. Saint Augustine, he knew all about it, he had an illegitimate son, so he knew the struggles with purity. St. Augustine said it is a crown we must fight for, it is not given, is not always freely given by God, He wants us to fight for it. That means firstly in our thoughts, be pure in our thoughts, if you’re tempted by impure thoughts what do you do? What do you do? Well, God sometimes allows it, He allows us to be tempted, to increase in us the love of God and to fight and merit for heaven. What good is an athlete who's sitting on the bench? You know the athlete, the quality of the effort when he's out on the ice, right? When he's out on the corridor, out on the field. What good is a musician who just sits in the stands, you only know a musician, the quality when they play and that goes for soldiers as well. You only know the quality of a soldier when he's in battle. God is a good Father He's a good Coach, He's a good Captain and He puts us to the test all the time.
When we're tempted what's the first thing we should do? Oh, I can fight this on my own. No, you can't. We think that way we're gone. But pray that's the first thing is pray, pray, pray. God will strengthen you; He will give you grace especially to the Virgin Mary in questions of purity and then secondly, imitate the saints. What does St. Francis do one winter when he was tempted with impure thoughts? He threw himself in a snowbank until he was freezing and another time, he threw himself in a thorn bush and rolled it till he was bleeding, St. Benedict also. If you're in a mixed crowd, there's certain other means. The physical pain inflicted on oneself, bite your tongue, lash or some fasting, these things can help but the main thing is, as St. Francis de Sales says, it's mortification of the will to turn from temptation. Turn away, stay away don't put fuel on the fire. Then thirdly, of course, stay away from occasions of sin, stay away from occasions of sin. That’s just obvious common sense. If you're driving a bike boys or girls, and you see a pile of nails and class on the street, do you drive right through the middle of it? If you want to pop your tires, yeah you too. But if you want to save your tires what will you do? You steer wide around it because there's other glass and nails that scattered around it, right? That's how we gotta treat all temptations, especially with regards of purity, steer away, steer away.
We're living in the most foul age of vice, the world is saturated in vice and the fruit of it is death, it's so depressing, it's quite depressing when you think too much about it. All the children that should be filling our streets and playgrounds. You know all the millions of children that have been killed or aborted or contraceptive where are they all? They’re ghosts walking in the streets. The laughter, the screams and the playing of children, you don't hear that anymore in the streets. It's a ghost town, ghost towns the modern cities.
Let's pray to the Mother of God, we're living in this is awful age but God put us in this time to be saints. You gotta fight and you got a great crown in heaven waiting and let's go down to the sacrifice of the Mass, where the Babe of Bethlehem comes down on the altar. The Lord Jesus Christ the King, He knows we're fighting a tough battle so He feeds you, not with some chocolates from heaven, but with His own divine heart, His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. He wants to strengthen you. So ask great things every time you go to communion, especially a great love of God like the Virgin Mary.
O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee.
In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost. Amen.
