(Mgr Lefèbvre) Modernist errors and sedevacantists lead logically to heresy
(...) In a few words, I would like to try to enlighten your minds a little bit about what seems to me to be our course of action in the painful events that are taking place in the Holy Church.
It seems to me that one can compare the passion that the Church suffers today to the passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ . See how stunned they were - the Apostles themselves - before our bound Lord, having received this kiss of the betrayal of Judas, he is taken away. He is dressed in a scarlet robe, mocked at him, struck him, loaded with the Cross, and the Apostles fled.
The Apostles are scandalized: "It is not possible! It is not possible!". May He whom Peter proclaimed, "You are the Christ, the Son of God!", is reduced to this indigence, this humility, this avanie ... it is not possible. They are running away. Only the Virgin Mary, with Saint John and some women, surround Our Lord. They have kept the faith, they do not want to give up Our Lord. They know that Jesus Christ is God, but they also know that He is a man.
And it is precisely this union of divinity with the humanity of Jesus Christ that has posed extraordinary problems! Because He did not only want to be a man. He wanted to be a man like us, with all the consequences of sin, but without sin, except sin, but He wanted to suffer all the consequences, pain, fatigue, suffering, hunger, thirst, death. Until death.
Yes, Our Lord realized this extraordinary thing that scandalized the Apostles, before scandalizing many others who separated from Him or no longer believed in His divinity! Throughout the history of the Church, we see that those souls who, surprised at the weakness of Our Lord, did not believe that He was God ... this is the case of Arius!
Arius said, "No, it is not possible, this man can not be God! No doubt he is a superman, he is the firstborn, but it is not God! Since he said he was less than his Father, that his Father was greater than him ... he is therefore smaller than his Father, so he is not God! And then he said these surprising words: "My soul is sad until death. "
"How could one who had the beatific vision, who saw God in his human soul, and therefore much more glorious than infirm, much more eternal than temporal, his soul was already in eternity, blessed! And here he suffers and says, "My soul is sad until death. And who utters these astonishing words that we ourselves would never have imagined put on the lips of Our Lord: "Lord, Lord, why have you forsaken me? " But how ? How can he say that himself? "Why did you abandon me? "".
So the scandal. Scandal spreads among feeble souls, and Arius almost causes the whole Church to say, "No, this person is not God. Others will react and say, "But perhaps all that Our Lord has suffered, this blood that flows, these wounds, this cross ... all this is imagination. In fact, these are external phenomena that happened but were not real, a little like the Archangel Raphael when he accompanied Tobias then said to Tobias: "You thought I was eating when I was taking food, but no, I feed on spiritual food. Thus, the Archangel Raphael did not have a body like that of Our Lord Jesus Christ, he was not born in the womb of an earthly mother as Our Lord is born of the Virgin Mary. So maybe Our Lord Jesus Christ was a phenomenon like that? And that seeming to eat he did not eat, seeming to suffer he did not suffer! "
And then it was those who denied the human nature of Our Lord Jesus Christ: the monophysites , the monothelists , who denied the nature and the human will of Our Lord Jesus Christ. All was God in him, and all that had happened was only appearances!
See the consequences of those who are scandalized by reality and truth.
Then I will make a comparison with the Church today. Today we are scandalized, yes, really scandalized, at the situation of the Church. We thought that the Church was truly divine, and that she could never be wrong, that she could never deceive us.
Yes, it is true, the Church is divine , the Church can not lose the truth, the Church will always keep the eternal truth. But she is human too! The Church is human, and much more human than Our Lord Jesus Christ! Our Lord could not sin, he was the Holy, the just par excellence! But the Church, if it is divine, and truly divine, it carries us all the things of God, and especially the Holy Eucharist, eternal things that can never change, that will make the glory of our souls in Heaven ... yes the Church is divine ... but she is human! She is supported by men who can be sinners, who are sinners! And if they participate in a certain way in the divinity of the Church, to a certain extent, as the Pope for example by his infallibility, by the charism of infallibility, participate in the divinity of the Church, he remains a man, he remains a sinner, and apart from the cases where he uses his charism of infallibility, he can wander! He can sin!
So why do we scandalize and say like some, like Arius: "He is not Pope. He is not a pope. As Arius said, "It's not God, it's not true, Our Lord can not be God." But then, we would be tempted to say, "It's not possible, he can not be Pope, doing what he does. "
And like others, on the contrary, who would divinize the Church, so much so that everything would be perfect in the Church, and that "everything being perfect in the Church, there is no question of us doing anything it may be opposed to something that comes to us from Rome, because everything is divine in Rome and we must accept everything from what comes from Rome "do like those who also say that Our Lord was so God that he was not possible that he was suffering, that it was the appearance of suffering, but that in reality he did not suffer, that in reality his blood did not flow, it was appearances that we had in our eyes, in the eyes of those around them, of him, but that it was not a reality!
So it is the same today with those who follow saying: "No, nothing can be human in the Church, nothing can be imperfect in the Church!" They are wrong too! They do not follow the reality of things.
